About SEZ Explorer

SEZ Explorer was built to make fragmented public information about the world's Special Economic Zones easier to find, compare, and scrutinise in one place.

Our Mission

To make fragmented public information about Special Economic Zones easier for investors, policymakers, zone operators, and researchers to find, compare, and scrutinise.

The Data

Our database covers 8,742 zones across 100 countries. Each profile is built from government zone registers, UNCTAD Investment Policy Hub, World Bank FIAS/IFC studies, regional development bank reports, zone authority websites, and direct operator submissions — enriched and validated by a multi-model AI pipeline.

The Technology

SEZ Explorer uses a multi-model AI strategy (GPT-4.1, Gemini 2.5 Flash, and DeepSeek) for data enrichment, discovery, and intelligence synthesis. Zone profiles are scored across six dimensions: Regulatory Quality, Infrastructure, Economic Performance, Operational Efficiency, Ecosystem Depth, and Track Record.
